  • Inferno Downhill Race Mürren: Cancellation

    Following a tragic medical incident resulting in death, the Organising Committee of the International Inferno Race, together with the race management, has decided to cancel the downhill race. The evening celebrations at the Alpine Sports Centre in Mürren will take place in a modified format. We thank you for your understanding.

    After a successful cross-country skiing start the evening before, the second day of Inferno was all about giant slalom. A total of 327 skiers took part in a thrilling race in perfect conditions. Both familiar and new faces graced the winners' podium.

    The 82nd International Inferno Ski-Races in Mürren are underway: on Wednesday evening, 21st January 2026, the Inferno combination cross-country skiing competition took place as usual. Instead of racing through the village of Mürren, this time the athletes battled it out on a perfectly groomed cross-country ski trail in Stechelberg.   • 2025 annual results: record year despite interruption to operations

    Despite the closure of the Schilthorn summit until mid-March 2025 due to construction work, Schilthorn Cableway can look back on a record year. The gradual commissioning of the new cable car facilities led to a increase in transport capacity and a marked rise in passenger numbers. All business areas benefited from the growth. 2026 will now be dominated by the completion of the project.

  • First residents move into Schilthorn Cableway’s new team house

    At the beginning of December, employees of the Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. moved into 13 studios in the new team house in Mürren. The building was constructed in response to the lack of affordable housing for staff. Great importance was attached to sustainable construction methods right from the planning stage.

  • With full capacity into the Birg-Schilthorn ski resort

    Just in time for the start of the busy winter season, the second Funifor cableway between Mürren and Birg will go into operation on Friday, 28th November 2025. This brings the line’s full capacity to 800 passengers per hour. The construction phase – from cable pulling to commissioning – took six months.
