Schilthorn Cableway looks back on a record year at its 64th Annual General Meeting
On Friday, 19thJune 2026, the 64th Annual General Meeting of Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. took place in Mürren. 261 shareholders attended the meeting. Following a record year in 2025, Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. is also performing very well in the current financial year.
A total of 597 shareholders (of whom 261 were present in person), holding 24'584 voting rights, attended the 64thAnnual General Meeting of Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. at the Alpine Sports Centre in Mürren on Friday, 19th June 2026. This represents 63.85 per cent of the share capital.
“2025 was a record year”
Revenue of around 38 million Swiss francs, the opening of further cableways, very strong demand and positive figures across all business areas: “2025 was a record year,” said Johannes Stöckli, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Schilthorn Cableway Ltd., summarising the past financial year in his address. It was initially marked by the closure of the Schilthorn summit in the first quarter, followed by an enormous upturn after the reopening. “But where there is light, there is also shadow,” Stöckli goes on to note. Numerous factors, such as the rapid pace of construction, cost overruns and delays in expected revenue, have led to a tight liquidity situation, “which is slowly easing, but we are not out of the woods yet”.
Introduction of a capital band
As a supporting measure, the Board of Directors therefore proposed to the Annual General Meeting that a capital band be introduced in accordance with the Articles of Association. This is intended to authorise the Board to increase the share capital by a maximum of 50 per cent of the shares previously issued, without the need for further approval, to raise new capital quickly. The aim of this measure is to further ease and stabilise liquidity. For this reason, despite the record results in 2025, the Board of Directors has decided not to propose a dividend payment to the Annual General Meeting. Both proposals were approved.
In further votes, the annual report together with the 2025 financial statements and the appropriation of retained earnings were approved. Discharge was granted to the Board of Directors and the Executive Board. All members of the Board of Directors were re-elected for a further three-year term of office. KPMG AG of Bern was re-appointed as auditors for a further year.
Outlook for the 2026 financial year
Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, which has had a significant impact on tourism, the company has made an extremely successful start to the current financial year. The construction phase was completed on 2nd April with the commissioning of the final Funifor cable car between Birg and Schilthorn – around four months ahead of schedule. At the same time, a new corporate identity was launched, which is now being gradually rolled out in day-to-day operations. The winter season concluded with a 5 per cent increase in turnover and a 10 per cent rise in first-time visitors compared with the previous year. The cable car recorded a 24.7 per cent increase in passenger numbers. Also noteworthy is the rise in turnover at the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant, which exceeded 50 per cent. The focus going forward will now be entirely on the remaining completion, landscaping and tidying up work. The opening of the Intersport shop at the new Mürren station, featuring an integrated T-bar and a new sun terrace, is scheduled for 1st September 2026. Once all construction work has been completed, the focus will finally shift to marketing the new cable cars and targeted sales efforts both domestically and abroad.
