Winter season start at Riggli chairlift

On Saturday, 1st November 2025, the official 2025/2026 winter season starts at the Riggli chairlift. Thanks to snow farming, a complete ski slope and a snow park has been created for the third time in a row. With the opening of the second Funifor track between Mürren and Birg at the end of November, this route will reach full capacity just in time for the peak season.

The season at the Schilthorn already began at the end of September for ski and snowboard freestylers: numerous teams from Switzerland and abroad, as well as private freestyle fans, have been using the attractive setup in the Pända Snow Park for training purposes ever since. On Saturday, 1st November 2025, the snow park will be expanded to include a ski slope and the Riggli chairlift will open. During the first three weeks of November, the facility will be open on Saturdays and Sundays before commencing continuous operation on 22nd November. Day tickets are available at a reduced price during the pre-season. The new AlpsPass and the Jungfrau Ski Region season pass will be valid from 1st November.

Additional transport capacity to Birg thanks to new Funifor cable car

Just in time for the start of the main season on 28th November 2025, the second track of the new Funifor cable car between Mürren and Birg will open, ensuring full capacity of 800 passengers per hour. This is another milestone in the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX project, which will be completed at the beginning of April 2026 with the opening of the second Funifor track on the Birg-Schilthorn route.

Outlook for numerous winter events

Numerous events will also take place in the Mürren-Schilthorn area this coming winter. The first event, a freestyle slopestyle contest, has already taken place in the Pända Snowpark. In alpine skiing, the women will compete in the FIS slalom race in the Engetal on 19th and 20th November. In addition to renowned events such as the 82nd International Inferno Race in January 2026 and the Whitestyle Open in March, the Swiss Snow Happening will take place in Mürren in April, where around 1,500 ski instructors will meet for a joint end-of-season celebration, packed with numerous exciting competitions.
